Overlooking Omalos plateau towards Mt. Gigolos and the entrance to the Samaria Gorge
Ballos Travel Agency offers day excursions leaving every Monday Wednesday and Friday from Georgioupolis to the Omalos plateau, which is the entrance to the Samaria Gorge and the start of by far the most popular nature walk in Crete. These excursions start at 07:00 morning and return at 20:00 evening.
Said to be the longest gorge in Europe, this 16 km hike is one of the “must-do’s” when holidaying on Crete.
Our coach leaves Georgioupolis early in the morning, after picking up our clients from their hotels or lodgings. After a comfortable drive of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes we arrive at the plateau of Omalos where we have a 30-minute break before going to the entrance of the gorge.
Our clients have the option to chose for a hike with a guide , or a hike without a guide.
When you reach the end of the gorge in Agia Roumeli, you need to purchase your ferry ticket there. We recommend you make your purchase at a Taverna where you can also sit down, relax, and have something to eat should you so wish.
The ferry leaves Agia Roumeli at 17.30 sharp, to take you to Chora Sfakion where our coach awaits you for your return journey to Georgioupolis.
